St Moritz Church and the Pfeifturm - A beautiful setting for the "Immaculata"

A fine example of the silversmith's art can be found on the left-hand side of the choir entrance into St Moritz Church. The "Immaculata" by Josef Friedrich Canzler is one of the most exquisite Rococo statuettes in Bavaria and harmonises beautifully with the solemnity of the church with its nave and two aisles. The history of the "Untere Pfarr" ("Lower Parish Church"), as it is known to the residents of Ingolstadt, dates back to the 9th century. St Moritz Church is the oldest church in Ingolstadt. The Gothic Pfeifturm, which used to be a watchtower, soars up into the sky alongside the actual church tower.
