Franciscan Basilica - Stone and bronze memorial plaques
The Gothic Franciscan Basilica, a church of impressive size dedicated to a mendicant order of friars, also houses a unique collection of historical treasures. The ninety tombs of governors, professors, officers and other high-ranking residents bear witness to the period from 1472 to 1800. Valuable and unusually well preserved memorial plaques adorn the walls, pillars and side chapels of the otherwise somewhat plain Franciscan Basilica. Of high artistic quality, the plaques document the lives and works of respected residents of Ingolstadt.
